Dental X-rays
At Enlighten Dental, we use X-rays to help our dentists get a better understanding of your oral health. By taking pictures of the inside of your teeth and gums, we can find problems such as cavities, tooth decay or impacted teeth before they turn into bigger issues.
If you are a new patient, we will ask you to undergo a dental X-ray so that our dentist Sophia Petta can get a clear picture of your dental health. Children need to have dental X-rays more often as their teeth is continuously growing, so we will need to monitor the growth of their adult teeth through the X-rays.

The amount of radiation you are exposed to during a dental X-ray is much less than the amount you would receive during a medical X-ray, such as a chest X-ray.
While there is always a slight risk associated with any exposure to radiation, the risk from dental X-rays is very low. Your dentist will only recommend X-rays when they are needed to diagnose or treat a dental problem.
If you’re pregnant, or think you may be pregnant, tell your dentist before having any X-rays. This is because there is a very small risk that the radiation from dental X-rays could harm the developing baby. Your dentist will usually suggest waiting until after your baby is born to have any X-rays.

After a dental X-ray, the dentist Sophia Petta will review them and check for abnormalities. If they find anything significant during the exam, such as cavities or tooth decay then it's time to discuss treatment options with them; however if there is no evidence of any problems present in your teeth - keep up good work!

Dental X-rays are used to help diagnose problems with your teeth and gums. The preparation for dental X-rays is typically very minimal. In some cases, you may be asked to bite down on a piece of plastic to help keep your mouth still during the procedure.
